I happen to be living with the aforementioned man. I have gotten him into reddit, and am now actively trying to force him to do one of these. So tell me (so I can tell him): any interest?

There is a MTG subreddit (/r/magicTCG), you might want to x-post there.

Update the OP when you create another thread, please! Should be interesting.

Absolutely! My favorite part of the game is deck-building, and I'd love to hear how the professionals go about it. Seriously, this is a great AMA idea.

Yes this was the part I was really interested to hear about, please make him talk!

Well it looks like this got a pretty decent response! I'll talk to him tonight and keep you guys updated!

Not to be a stickler, but "Please don't submit an AMA just to "see if there's interest." Simply post the AMA and find out."

Yes, I'd be interested to hear from him.

I loved MtG throughout my teens. Would still be playing if it weren't so time consuming!

If you haven't played the digital version, you should check it out. Lots of fun, and with tapping/untapping and counting and keeping track of tokens all automated, it really shaves down game time. On average, games are 5-20 minutes long.

At first I was a bit bummed to learn I couldn't build decks from the ground up, but I think it allows a new level of balance that wasn't viable with player built decks, and allows for more focused strategy on knowing which decks are capable of what.

magic the gathering: online allows your own deck building but its pretty pricy (software is free, cards cost the same as real ones)

Thats why you use cockatrice!

Might just have to give it a shot, sounds like fun ;)

YES! Noel is one of my favorite writers on the site!

Yeah, as a cursory question to this interest thread, ask him what he feels about "power creep". He'll know what you mean if you don't know what that is.

Are you sure Noel's an employee of Wizards? I thought he just wrote for them.

He does just write for them, but technically that makes him an employee. I'm friends with Jake Van Lunen, who does another column for WotC and he's considered an employee. Jake is also a Pro Tour winner, while Noel hasn't won anything of note that I'm aware of.

He does put decklists in his articles, so I guess that makes him "a professional deckbuilder" despite the fact that none of his decks have succeeded in professional tournaments.

From the sidebar:

Please don't submit an AMA just to "see if there's interest." Simply post the AMA and find out.

He's trying to prove to Noel that there is interest so he will actually do one. Otherwise he wouldn't.

YES. DO IT.

I'm not a fanboy about anything... but From the Lab is one of the best things that ever happened :0

Yes. Also, I'd like to note, I feel like professional deck builders for Wizards should be allowed - neigh, forced - to participate in the game at a competitive level.

Why doesn't he just do the IAMA instead of just having you ask?

This would be pretty much the coolest thing ever!

If I remember right I use to play Wow with some people who worked/work there. Just in case there might be some connection, I was on Uther in the guild Voodoo Posse.

Fuck yeah I've always wondered about this. I don't know why I've never thought to make a request for it.

A part of me died on the inside when you started releasing '' new cards''

Why o why did Wizards make such a heavy turn around ?

Yeah, go for it! I got some questions for him.

I don't know what any of those things are.

Well, start googling now hope that .\\agic will not eat your entire life after that as happens with many people who start playing it. Much like reddit ;-)

only if he's gonna tell me my cards are worth something..

If the guy is up for talking about Kaijudo('s gameplay), I am. I know a lot of players who are dying for information.

Typically one doesnt need to make a thread asking if their is interest in it. Just make the AMA. If their is interest, it will be self evident by the content in the AMA thread.

What is your love life like? I imagine a character similar to the main character in the 40 year old virgin. Is this a true assumption?

I happen to be living with the aforementioned man.

Do you tap that?

still have all my cards and play on occasion (after 15 years of doing so).

I'd love to know who thought up the storm mechanic.

YES! I also want you to build me a deck that can beat my friend Logan's black deck. Fuck.

I'll pay anything, I dont even care anymore. His deck is a beast and I can never win.

Please don't submit an AMA just to "see if there's interest." Simply post the AMA and find out.

I would love to, I just got into it last March and have been investing a lot of time into it and it'd be cool to talk to someone like you.

....okay, this might sound really creepy, but ask Noel if he remembers Sherburne, NY. I could be wrong, but I remember seeing him once at Gus Macker in Norwich years and years ago. For some reason, I just remember his name and was shocked to see it on Reddit!

Yes that would be awesome! I would have a few questions id like to ask.

Yes. I am an aspiring deck builder myself. I'd love to know how the pros do it.

piqued.

Unless you mean your interest could not or will not go any higher...

That is actually what I meant. I had a troll face on while typing that.

Yes, like playing the game, too bad it costs so much, but nonetheless it would be a good AMA

Can you ask him when Axis and Allies: Europe 1940 will finally be back in print so I can finally buy it? I really want this game!

i don't play magic, but I competively play Pokemon and I used to play Yugioh.

Yes.

Wizards of the Coast? If he has anything to do with the making of DDO, I'll be very interested.

what is the general opinion amongst employees about the increased prices on magic the gathering products as a whole? what's the general reasoning that prices keep going up and up on products? and what how was the feeling in the company when WotC lost the rights to the Pokemon TCG?

Do you know about the thought/time that goes into the banlists? Why can't Konami make a fair banlist like WotC does =(?

There was a great WOTC store by me that was very popular but it closed years ago. Can you speak to management and ask if a new store could be put into, the Mall of Georgia.

I would love to read a magic related AMA! Yes please!

Nah, once MTG was awesome, now with like three thousand expansions, nah. No thx

so, you didn't feel like keeping up on them releasing more awesome so it sucks?
"NO, they kept producing awesome things, so they aren't awesome...." you're a fool

First: I played mtg where it was a strategy (card) game. Now it is game like this: I have tapped creature, you have an Assassin, I got also an Icy manipolator. Old rule was: you use assassin, I use icy, nothing happened. Now it is: FU it will go trough. It does not matter what you do. Great parts of the strategy was gone. Now you just "cast as much as you can NOW" because, well it does not matter when you cast or do it. (except phases) This lead to many discussions sure. But it was part of the strategy to "mind play" with your opponent. To force him to do something. So you can do something else "freely" this is gone. Second: MTG is now full of: Unblockable, uncounterable, undestroyable or "do not tap, fly, trample" and more creatures. Which leads to first problem: Play your cards NOW, stop thinking. Because FU, it does not matter at all.

Please just do an AMA, don't do a post that asks if there is interest.

Just advise him to include everything he knows about the Pokémon TCG in his OP. It'll help cut down the fluff.

Not sure how much he knows about Pokemon TCG, to my knowledge he was hired specifically as a magic writer (after submitting untold numbers of crazy deck ideas) and isn't really involved in anything else. But I could be wrong.

besides, didn't wizards of the coast lose pokemon after nintendo sold out the rights from under them after the first 150? I thought they hadn't been involved with pokemon since the 90s?
